NRC Report

The Association of American Universities just released a report,“Partnering for a Prosperous and Secure Future.” It outlines steps the next administration can take to continue to work and develop our research universities and steps that universities can take to better fulfill their mission.

The AAU recommendations are similar to those of the recent National Research Council report on American research universities.

Recommendations include:

• support of graduate education
• support of federal aid for higher education
• immigration reform with citizenship programs for foreign-born researchers
• improve STEM education and support for foreign language training and support for the humanities role in education
• federal support for research
• review and streamline federal regulations that govern university research
• support for interoperable research repositories for access to scholarly publications.
