Research paper due? Check out these library resources

As the school year picks up pace, so will the assignments and research needs of AOS graduate students.  Fortunately, the Schwerdtfeger Library has many useful tools to help students with their academic research.

The librarians at the Schwerdtfeger Library have developed a series of tutorials on how to compile a literature review.  Each tutorial is 3-8 minutes in length, and includes tips for constructing search strategies, finding books and scholarly articles, evaluating resources, and saving research.  These tutorials can be found under the “Research Guides” portion of the Schwerdtfeger Library’s website at: http://library.ssec.wisc.edu/research_Resources/atmospheric_Resources/research_Guides.

We have also created two research guides to assist in your studies – one on atmospheric, oceanic, and climate sciences resources, and the other on climate data sources.  The guides include databases that cover material pertaining to these topics, information about citation guides, copyright information, and reference materials, as well as how to search for dissertations and government documents relevant to these fields.  The research guides can be found at: http://researchguides.library.wisc.edu/c.php?g=177688 and http://researchguides.library.wisc.edu/c.php?g=178052.  They can also be accessed through the campus library homepage at www.library.wisc.edu by clicking on the Research Guides tab on the homepage, and choosing Atmospheric/Oceanic/Climate Studies.

If you have any questions or need assistance with your research, please do not hesitate to contact the Schwerdtfeger Library or stop by room 317 Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm.  We are always happy to help!
