The Schwerdtfeger Library has a new exhibit featuring the history of weather forecasting. The exhibit details our progression from prediction techniques that relied entirely upon optical phenomena to the inventions of the Renaissance, the 19th century establishment of a United States Weather Service, and the technological advances of the last ninety years that culminated in the recent launch of the GOES-16 satellite.  Stop by the third floor corridor just outside the library for a brief look back at the people, innovations, and milestones in weather forecasting history.
