The library
recently submitted more than 30 CIMSS-authored articles from 2018 and 2019 to the NOAA
IR because we want CIMSS to be in compliance with federal requirements ahead of
the institute’s recompetition next year.
We will be
contacting you soon to obtain copies of the final, peer-reviewed versions of
your NOAA-funded papers (not the publisher’s version of record) so that we can
submit them. For now, we will make sure that your manuscripts are section 508 compliant, per NOAA’s guidelines, before
submitting them.
Currently, we are addressing
NOAA-funded research. We will turn to other funders later.
Why are we
doing this? Because researchers who
publish the results of federally funded research are required to make those
peer-reviewed papers freely available to the public within one year of
publication. The Schwerdtfeger Library has created a site highlighting what researchers need to
know about these not-so-new requirements.
